The Lithuanian winter ❄️ is a real challenge for our footwear. Moisture, snow, salt, and cold can instantly ruin even the most expensive and beloved shoes. However, the good news is that with proper care, your heels can remain impeccable throughout the festive season – from the first snow and Advent events, New Year's parties, and right until spring. Therefore, we have prepared a comprehensive and practical guide for you, where you will learn how to protect your shoes in winter and what products are worth having at home.
1. Moisture protection – the first step to beautiful and protected heels.
Whether you wear leather, suede, or patent leather – all materials need additional protection in winter.
Always use impregnation products that protect against: moisture, dirt, snow, and salt stains. Remember to do this regularly, every 10–14 days.
2. Salt protection: the most important tip for leather heels.
Salt residue is the most common problem of the Lithuanian winter. On leather heels, it leaves white, difficult-to-remove stains and damages the leather. Here's how to protect yourself:
Before going out, apply a protective cream or wax to the toes. Try to walk through snow as little as possible, and if possible, go to the event in other footwear and change inside.
If marks have already appeared: Use a warm damp cloth and a gentle leather cleaner, and finally – a nourishing product to prevent the leather from flaking.
3. Premium shoe wax – the best protection in winter (especially for leather).
Leather heels need to maintain elasticity in winter. Cold and salt dry out the leather, causing it to crack or lose its shine. The handmade premium quality shoe wax available in our store is an ideal solution because it:
Nourishes the leather - Deeply penetrates and restores moisture.
Protects from salt and moisture - Creates a protective layer that prevents stains from forming.
Provides a natural, luxurious shine - Perfect for festive heels.

4. Natural horsehair brushes – an essential tool for applying wax.
To ensure the wax spreads evenly and does not damage the leather, it is best to use a natural horsehair brush. Why?
Soft bristles do not scratch the leather - this is especially important for high-quality heels.
Perfectly applies wax or cream - Wax absorbs 2–3 times faster and more evenly.
Provides shine without much effort - It is impossible to achieve this using plastic or hard brushes. Also suitable for cleaning and polishing everyday leather shoes.

5. Non-slip soles – for safety in winter.
Heels + icy sidewalks = bumps, scrapes, sprains, or even bone fractures. We recommend choosing shoes with natural rubber soles, which significantly improve grip on the pavement and reduce the likelihood of slipping.
6. How to care for different materials in winter.
Leather: clean with a warm damp cloth, nourish with wax 1–2 times a week. Use a brush to achieve a gentle shine.
Suede: clean dry only, use a special suede brush and no water!
Patent leather: clean gently with water and soap, restore shine with a product designed for patent leather.
Satin / textile: protect maximally from moisture and clean very carefully with a special product to prevent color loss.
7. How to store heels between festive events.
Proper shoe storage helps prevent deformation, leather wrinkles, bad odors, and even mold. For this, use shaping inserts, do not store shoes in boxes, especially tightly closed ones, avoid radiator heat, store at room temperature, in a dry place. If you wear heels weekly or less often, it is worth waxing them once a week to keep the leather from drying out, staying elastic, and beautiful.
