Verdict: MYTH.

Many women, looking for a more comfortable solution, consider buying high heels one size larger. However, this is a common myth that not only does not solve the problem of discomfort but can cause even more inconvenience.

Why Is This a Myth?

  1. Instability when walking. Larger shoes do not fit securely on the foot, which can lead to slipping or even injuries. High heels require exceptional stability to ensure a proper stride.

  2. Foot deformities. Incorrectly chosen size can lead to uneven pressure, which in the long run can cause foot deformities, calluses, or even painful nerve compressions.

  3. Illusion of comfort. Larger shoes may seem comfortable only for the first few minutes. However, wearing them for longer periods will show that they fall off your feet and require constant adjustment while walking. As a result, we do not enjoy the event/celebration or other important occasion, but only think - HOW NOT TO LOSE THE SHOE?

When can you choose high heels one size larger?

There are a few exceptional cases when you can consider larger shoes:

  • Foot pads or additional insoles. If you plan to use soft foot pads or thick insoles, a larger size can compensate for the extra space.

FOR EXAMPLE: these. What makes them useful - they are reusable, worn over the toe, so when your feet swell in the evening - you take them off and you have your correct high heel size again.

When preparing larger high heels, it is important to adjust the heel pads as well. For example:

  • Feet that swell severely. If you know that your feet swell very much during long events (e.g., weddings or other formal events), a slightly larger size combined with adjustable straps can ensure comfort.

How to choose the right size?

  1. Evening measurement. Feet usually swell a little at the end of the day, so it is advisable to try on shoes in the evening.

  2. Standing test. When standing, your toes should not touch the front of the shoe. There should be about a 0.5 cm gap between your longest toe and the end of the shoe.

  3. Attention to shoe shape. Different models can "run" differently. Evaluate the width of the shoe and the spaciousness of the toe area.
