What is a foot arch?
In fact, the foot has three arches, but the most important one is the medial longitudinal arch, which we see on the inner side of the foot. Foot arches are necessary for shock absorption while walking and distributing the load to the knees and hips. Therefore, it is important to choose shoes that fit your foot.
According to the foot arch, feet are classified into low arch (flat feet), medium arch, and high arch (see Fig. 1).
How to determine your foot arch?
The simplest way is to stand on a sheet of paper with a wet foot and examine the imprint left behind. The wider the foot imprint in the middle, the lower the arch. When performing this test, it is important to stand on both feet, standing upright, so that the weight is distributed evenly, just as we walk every day.
According to foot width, we categorize feet as narrow, medium, wide, and extra-wide
(see Fig. 2)

How to measure foot width? The simplest way is to stand on a sheet of paper and trace the outline of your foot, then measure the widest part. When drawing, it's important to hold the pencil perpendicular to the paper, and you should repeat this for both feet; if one is slightly wider, you should choose shoes based on that foot. How do you know what measurement is considered wide and what is not? This also depends on your usual shoe size.
Choosing shoes that are not suitable for your foot type can lead to calluses and blisters. Shoes that are too narrow can increase the risk of foot deformities. Therefore, with this project, we want to draw attention to the importance of choosing appropriate footwear and offer you high heels that fit your specific foot type!
