Have you ever wondered how important healthy feet are?
Most people would probably say no. Those who have experienced foot health problems, injuries, discomfort, or pain that restricted their movement would answer this question differently. Unfortunately, as long as we feel healthy, we don't even consider how important it is to strive to remain so. We, as medical professionals, highly value prevention, as it is easier than treatment!
Our feet support and carry our body weight during various daily activities.
They are the foundation of the entire body; if we feel discomfort, we place our feet incorrectly, which can lead to pain in other joints, the spine, and poor posture. When foot health is compromised, it becomes harder to move, perform self-care, and engage in daily activities, which can even lead to psychological health problems.
For us women, the appearance of our feet is also important, and this too depends on foot health and care.
Healthy feet are beautiful feet! Various deformities, commonly called "bunions" when the big toe deviates outwards, flat feet, and hammer toe deformities noticeably change the appearance of the feet. These and other foot problems can be caused by wearing unsuitable shoes, ankle and foot injuries, overweight, arthritic changes in the joints (i.e., joint wear), congenital joint diseases, and genetic factors. Of course, some of these factors are difficult to control, but we can take care of some ourselves.
How can you help yourself?
Dedicate a few minutes daily to exercise, massage, wear appropriately sized, comfortable shoes, and if you notice deformities or feel pain, do not wait until it becomes unbearable and seek help from an orthopedic traumatologist!
